Emergency shelters are taking on a greater role in ending and preventing homelessness. Each shelter receiving funding from the Region is part of a coordinated system. We work together to help people find a safe and appropriate place to stay, which may or may not include a shelter.
If you think you may need access to shelter within a week, there are a few options for getting connected to a Housing Helpline:
- Single adults across the region can call 519-624-9133 between 8:00 a.m. and midnight, seven days a week
- Youth in Kitchener-Waterloo can call 519-741-6415 between 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
- Youth in Cambridge can call 519-998-7292 between 8:00 a.m. and midnight, seven days a week
- Families across the region can call 519-749-2450 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
For after-hour calls, please see contact information in the catalog below (organized by community).
